The Network Security Engineer

I joined the team at PKC Group with a primary focus on security. My current responsibilities evolve around keeping the network safe by addressing vulnerabilities from threat intel feeds and hardening both internal and perimeter vectors.

Prior to PKC, I primarily worked with Cisco appliances. I quickly learned how to use zones and create policies with Fortigate firewalls using a central appliance called FortiManager. There were several other new areas that I had to own as well such as ClearPass Policy Manager, McAfee EPO, Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimization, and Tenable Security Center.

As an added value to my security responsibilities, I am able to use the in-depth experiences I’ve encountered at SRG Global to address the network with confidence. Within my first few weeks, I was able to identify several aspects of the network that could use restructuring such as the underutilization of the core switches and the lack of any dynamic routing protocols.
