The Network Engineer

As I was being interviewed for the Network Engineer position for SRG Global, I realized that I’ve been awarded the opportunity to advance my career in a way that would benefit me tremendously in all of my future endeavors. I was told that SRG Global was a company of innovation and intrapreneurship. As I sit back and watch the panel of managers sizing me up, they ask me if I’m up for the challenge of owning the global network. Eager to drop my training wheels, I insisted that I was definitely up for the challenge.

Owning the global network was not an exaggeration. I became solely responsible for all aspects of communications across SRG’s roughly 30 locations around the world. Mostly, I worked remotely to resolve issues but it became normal to have to travel to the Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky locations to either implement new technologies or solve issues that can’t be resolved remotely. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel to China twice and Mexico a few times in order help with new plant builds.
